A different kind of questionaire

AS I was reading other blogs as I love to do- I got on a path that led me to a blog entitled Always in Development and a lovely lady called Shalom Seeker. This questionnaire caught my eye because I made up one similar a few years ago in email and sent it to my friends and some of their responses made me cry, because they were candid in their answers and a few said they did not know where they would go when they die-this was some of my closest friends. Boy, that can grab you and wake you up when you realize close loved ones need to hear the Good News.
Here are her questions and if you read this and feel like answering them please send me a line telling me to come see.
1. When did you come to believe in Jesus? Tell your story! (as long or as short as you like) I came to believe in Jesus when I was about 6 and I vividly remember the day I went forward and made it public and was baptized - I grew up in church and loved growing in knowledge all my young life, then I had a few years or more where I was not walking with the Lord-I turned from him -He never turned from me.
2. What difference has #1 made in your life? In my darkest days, through many trials He has carried me. I truly have felt His love when it was hard to feel love from those around me. I feel like I can tell him anything and He cares. I place the things that matter most to me at His feet and for the most part leave them there-for example my children and grandchildren. I realize that they are truly gifts from Him. I honestly feel He is my best friend- I can't think of any experience good or especially bad that I don't turn to Him now. My thoughts are Pray about it or thank God for it.
3. What is your favorite Scripture passage? Why? I love them all -but my favorite chapter is Psalms 139- It begins with "O Lord you have searched me and you know me- you know when I sit and when I rise-You perceive my thoughts from afar, you discern my going out and my lying down, you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord." So many more precious verses-one I particularly love is "How precious to me are your thoughts, O God How vast is the sum of them. Were`I to count them they would outnumber the grains of sand"-Wow-God thinks about us more than the sands on all the beaches!!! It ends with "Search me o God and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts.See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." That's my prayer.
4. Tell about a time God answered a specific prayer in your life. How did that affect/change you? I prayed for my children all their lives that they would desire to walk with the Lord and that He would be working on precious Christian mates for them. So far-one is married and he is a precious Christian man who loves my daughter and it was all a testimony how that happened- A God incidence that is a long story to share maybe later. This is just one that came to mind because there are so many. I've tried to teach my children to believe the power of prayer.
5. Do you remember a time that God made a Scripture passage especially clear to you? Tell!
When I found myself a single mother of 3 small children with a small income a verse God gave and made real in my life was "Once I was young but now I am old and I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread"Psalm 37:25 We might not always have what we wanted but we would have what we needed and we would never be hungry.
6. Who has influenced you in your spiritual walk (family, friends, mentor, pastor, authors, etc.)? In what ways? My parents raised me in a Christian loving home, that is a big influence- a woman who has been a spiritual mentor to me is Ms Inez- I love her and thank her. Ladies who I love to sit at their feet for spiritual food are Kay Arthur, Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, Jan Silvous and Joyce Meyer.
7. Sometimes we get to share His story with others. Is there a particular story that you want to tell about that? A story I love to share is how He sent an angel to intervene- Let me share- it was early in 2002 and my youngest child was going through a time of rebellion (That is enough to need divine intervention-Can I get a witness?). She decided at the age of 16 she would leave my home where there were rules and curfews and I knew where she was and her friends and expected her to be in church, to go to her Fathers house where rules were looser, curfew was later, he didn't have to know her friends and Church? not at all. I being the close mother I felt I was wanted her home-it was breaking my heart- every phone call was tears and please come home ending in hurt and anger. All I knew was to pray! In the midst of this my Father had a major stroke and we almost lost him. When I finally got her on the phone she being angry with me said she wasn't even going to come to the hospital. I cried and said our fight may be our fight but all her Poppy had ever done was love her. Much later after her aunt went and talked to her and other family members had called her she came-I remember looking down the hall and seeing a little girl with a big chip on her shoulder coming toward us-she went in and was a broken little girl seeing her Poppy laying there. When it came time to leave I wanted to walk her out and she didn't want me to -she thought there would be more begging when at that time I needed her love and she needed mine. We got on the elevator and she said don't start on me- I said cant we just get along right now and the elevator door opened a floor down and a large beautiful young black lady got on, we ceased talking and rode on down. We all got off the elevator and she went to the food area and we were sitting on a bench not saying anything when she came back up and said God had told her to tell us some things. She looked at my daughter and told her everything she was doing and that God was revealing that she should go home. She said there is nothing you are doing that your Mother won't love you-she prays for you. She was very specific and said things only few people could know- she laid hands on us and prayed out loud in that lobby over us and the little girl with the big chip melted right there. We sat there and agreed it was an angel- she went home that night and told her father God had sent an angel. She came home. I left out many personal things said and and details but I hope you see the picture of God coming in human form and speaking words that we needed. I told everyone and even spoke about it publicly and to this day know that God came in the Hospital in the form of a beautiful young black lady.
8. Is there something in your history that you would change if given a chance to?
I wish I had always walked closer with him, I wish there had been more of Him and less of me.
9. What's a vice in your life? Any virtues? ;-D Probably one vice I have is I am over sensitive and sometimes have low self-esteem-are these vices or faults? Virtues are my Faith and I feel great love from my Heavenly Father so I try to show love. I believe strongly in prayer.
10. What's your favorite way to worship God? I love to worship him with music and with prayer and praise for what He's done.
11. If you could possess one (real) talent or gift that you haven't already been given, what would it be and why? I wish I was a good speaker and could play an instrument.
12. What is an important lesson you have learned? How did you learn it? Unconditional love is loving someone for who they are, and not expecting more than they can give. People need love the most when they deserve it the least.
13. What things are you really passionate about? What sets you ablaze? I am passionate about Mercy, because I have received it. I am set ablaze to see someone come to Christ or see someone grow in their relationship with God.
14. What do you love or appreciate about God? That He loves me and I don't deserve it and that He has shown me great mercy and continues to.
15. Where have you be especially effective in serving God? (This isn't prideful; if you've been effective, it's because of His Spirit in you, so really it brings glory to HIM.) I believe I am effective in loving and learning with the Ladies Sunday School class I teach, we are a close group of ladies who have been through alot together and lift each other up. Ecclesiastes 4:9and 12 says " Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who has no one to help him up. A cord of three strands is not easily broken."
I know this was long but its a look inside your self to answer these questions.Maybe a Heart Check. Be Blessed!

Consider these things...

Today as I laid on the couch I pondered the recent things going on in the World of Oprah.
First, let me say I pretty much loved her show. I got to go to her show last year in May when I was in Chicago and it was a moving show about Moments that change your life and now as I hear and see what Oprah is involved with -She has really had some moments that are changing hers and not for good. As Christians we should know where we stand as far as "NEW TEACHINGS". Hosea 4:6 says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." so if we don't know where we stand we could fall to new feel good doctrines and many are. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 says "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.' First, she brought out the feel good book "The Secret" and I even found myself wanting to know more. It seemed like a new way of saying "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale . Upon further investigation I realized it was not Spiritual and biblically based. 2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." The Secret did not prove good and sound. Now she is leading thousands weekly along with Echkart Tolle in the New Earth movement. You can find lots of videos on You tube and they are disturbing.
Lastly, when we as Christians are faced with false teachings in Matthew 7:15-23, we find Jesus gives us the guideline for determining these false prophets:
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
The New Earth is not basing any of its precepts on God's word. How dangerous.
So as I stated earlier in a post- Let us pray for Oprah and the countless numbers who are seeking and will cling to this because it has the sound of something good. WE should be sharing even more The Real Truth -Jesus Christ died for us-He is The One and Only- we should live by God's Word and tell others of HIS GREAT LOVE for all of us.

I love Coffee-

What Your Latte Says About You

You are very decadent in all aspects of your life. You never scale back, and you always live large.

You can be quite silly at times, but you know when to buckle down and be serious.

You have a good deal of energy, but you pace yourself. You never burn out too fast.

You're addicted to caffeine. There's no denying it.

You are responsible, mature, and truly an adult. You're occasionally playful, but you find it hard to be carefree.

You are expressive and friendly, but you are never pushy.

Today is a Sick day

Today I woke up feeling under the weather, actually I've felt that way for a few days-could it be allergies or a virus? I'm not sure-I just know I needed a day on the couch. I won't do much today because tomorrow will come swiftly and I have a busy day planned. Today, I wanted to share this "Doing Good " award with some people I have met and enjoy reading their blogs because you can see the good they are doing.
First, I'd like to give it to Valerie for two reasons-she introduced me to Blogging and she is getting up three days a week at 5:00 am to exercise-bless her Lord!
I'd like to give it to Brenda at It's All Good and her sister Reva for sharing their lives in a sweet way. Sisters encouraging each other is a beautiful thing.
Next, I 'd like to give it to Pink Icing on the cake -her blog is so great and encouraging and eye pleasing. She's someone you'd like to be friends with if you lived close.
I'd like to give it to Sandy at 4 Reluctant Entertainers-you must go there and read her blog. Boy she will inspire you and the things she does with young girls called the Balcony Girls is awesome.
She gives you tips on opening yourself and your home.
Lastly, I'd like to give it to Kelli at Ponderings of a Pastor's Wife. I love to read her blog and I bet she is a wonderful minister's wife. My Mom would love her site-I believe she loves the old hymns like Momma.
When you spend a little time on the bog you can be blessed, inspired, you can laugh and you can cry. You can share a little or a lot and hope someone reads it. Somedays you can look into someone's house and get ideas, somedays you can see inside someone's heart and be humbled.
All these people mentioned have blessed me and I'm sure they will bless you-when they do -leave them a comment and say MeMe Lorie sent me.
PS I changed the picture to a better one because all the ladies have wonderfully positive sites and after I looked at the first picture it needed to better represent my intent.
Thanks for letting me change it-its a girls prerogative right!

Today was a busy day!

My day started with getting to work a little early and staying really late.I got there early because I had a Book Discussion planned with refreshments and all for the Big Read. The book was "The Maltese Falcon" and I appreciate Jean the sweet lady who came to do it with my Seniors. I am showing the movie Wednesday am -it stars Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade.
Then I had the usual busy Monday - I love my job.
At the end of the work day we had a fund-raiser dinner for our Meals on Wheels program- that was called The Empty Bowl Dinner-every one gets a ceramic bowl that was made by a local student and we serve soup, bread and water. There is entertainment and a live auction of all kinds of good stuff. The soups were steamy good- Corn Chowder, Seafood Gumbo, Minestrone and White Chili. A good time was had by all and no one should have left hungry -it was all you can eat . Did I mention my feet are killing me and I am tired and it was all worthwhile.
Two prayer requests -my Daddy or Poppy as we call him-he fell and broke his shoulder Sunday :o( and a very sweet young lady from my town who's name is Ashlee had a terrible car accident Saturday and is in bad shape. Please lift them up in prayer -it works! Be blessed!

Yesterday was Momma's Birthday

My Momma had her 74th birthday yesterday and I didn't want to leave her out of my blog, because I shared my Daddy or Poppy as we call him on his birthday. So let me tell you about my Momma- Nana Sue to her 7 grandkids and 3 great grandkids.
When I was growing up my Momma made- as in sewed everything I owned from my underwear to my blue jeans -she even sewed my prom dress. Back then I wanted store bought clothes, now I wish I could turn back time to have handmade clothes. My Mom has always been crafty and could make things with her hands, she still has hobbies, now mostly knitting and crocheting. Many of the beautiful things I cherish in my home were made by my Mom.
She took us to church all our lives and people always loved to come to our house to visit, because Momma made them feel welcome. She was the disciplinarian in our family, a role she took but not always appreciated, something I think you understand when you become a Mom- remember this hurts me more than it hurts you. She was an only child so she desperately wanted several children and she had 4-two girls and two boys. Her best friend Shirley married my Daddy's brother- that was the the closest thing to a sister she knew. They had their children at the same time except for the last one in each family, we all grewup together. Momma always liked to read and I thought she liked to write- I often encouraged her to write down her memories for her future generations-so far no such luck. She has a big hearty laugh, that can make others laugh. She has a big heart. She loves her family. She's a little spoiled to be perfectly honest, first by her Dad and then by mine. My kids think she makes the best roast and gravy, the best homemade applesauce, the best chicken salad and strawberry preserves. They've all three always loved to go to Nanny's house, they still do just not as frequently as all would like to.
When Whitney comes home from college -she has to eat at Nannys.
My Momma has had a heart attack and quadruple by-pass and she now has diabetes. We want her to take better care of herself so she'll be around for a long time. Take your medicine Mom!
I guess that's where I got that from....
My Mom loves the Gaithers and wishes they still sang from the Baptist Hymnal in church.
She loves my Daddy very much and is now taking care of him more than ever.
She is really pretty funny. I could show you the picture of her entertaining us with the Hannah Montana wig on, but we'll just keep that in the family. To know Momma, Nana Sue, Sue is to love her. I was very lucky to grow up in a Christian home where my parents loved each other.
Thank you God for my Momma.

Amazing Grace

I've had a lot of things on my mind this week that I want to write about and yet time went swiftly by and I didn't even have time to post. Things that have been on my mind that I feel led to write about like how we need to be in prayer for Oprah and how she is leading many (even Christians) down a wrong path. I want to post about this when I have gotten my thoughts in order and have prayed about the right things to say. As for now - pray for Oprah.
What I will share today is how thankful I am for Grace, specifically God's grace to me Lorie his poster child in need of Grace. I have been reading the book =I highly recommend- The PaPa Prayer and the author Larry Crabb says the acronym for PaPa is how we should pray- The first p stands for present yourself to God without pretense. Next the first a stands for attend to how you are thinking of God. The next p stands for Purge yourself of anything blocking your relationship with God. The last a stands for approach God as the first thing in your life.
So when I present myself to God I have to start right off in need of grace, because I lack discipline, I procrastinate, sometimes I'm too busy, many times I put unimportant stuff before important stuff, often times I'm lazy, sometimes I'm angry and selfish and very frequently I feel bad about myself. So right away I tell God how much I need him. Because I KNOW He is all powerful, He can do all things, He is concerned about our thoughts, our lives and our needs. He is always with us and He is able to take care of anything and everything- why don't we remember that when we fret? Sometimes the hardest thing is to purge yourself of what is blocking your relationship with God because that might mean going to another person and making something right and that can be hard. The last a - should be the easiest because it should not be hard to realize that God is our treasure, He is the one constant thing from before our first breath to eternity. H e will never leave us or forsake us. These are some things on my mind tonight and so I will leave you with the song that has always been my true favorite, that became even more so with this version....

I can't leave out my Baby Ryder

I haven't shown off my Little Ryder boy very much because I don't get to see him every day like I do my girls - HE is coming to spend the night with MeMe tomorrow and I can't wait. Tell me if you don't think he is the cutest little man- He is so much like his Daddy and MeMe loves him a whole bunch.Photobucket

I Can't Believe I deserve Awards

It's been so rewarding to me to blog and meet interesting people, I never expected awards on top of that. But I have got three awards over the last few weeks and I'd like to thank my sweet Friend Valerie for two of them. She just loves me.The first one she gave me just tells that we are special friends. We are friends in life and in Blogville. I would like to pass this one on to Shauna at Blah Blah Blog for giving me my bloglift. She's a good special friend to have. I'm sure she gets so many she doesn't have room to save or acknowledge them.

My next award was from Valerie again. I think she is so special and gets so many awards, every now and again she feels sorry for lil' old me and shares the wealth. Anyway, it looks nice and I appreciate it. I would like to pass this one on to anyone who has ever left me a comment, Jennifer, Southern Mom, Mike, Betty, Amazing Grace, Princess Dawn and I'm sure I left out somebody.Oh, I'd like to offer it to my new friend Brenda because she gave me my latest award , that was so special because it was from someone new who's not like family already and has to love me like Valerie. She gave me the you make my Day award. It really made my day.

Lastly, truly I think it's so awesome to go to some one's site and see your name and that they thought of you, we all like to know that we are thought about. But I'd like to leave you with a song that tells about what I'm dreaming of....

Some Thoughts and a Praise

I just had a phone call with an answered prayer. I was really talking to God about him working in a situation and once again He was good.I know God is good all the time, it's just sometimes as humans we don't live like He is.
I saw a verse today and I looked at it different than I ever had before- does anybody else ever do that. One of my favorite Chapters of the Bible is Psalm 139. Once, when I was doing a bible study we studied that chapter and I wrote in the margin "A love song between God and us". Today I saw a poem by Max Lucado entitled God Thinks your Wonderful and one of the lines said He thinks about you more than there are grains of sand on the beach. Psalms 139 says:
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: How cool is that. God thinks about little old me more than there are grains of sand on the beach. So I'm sure when something is really bothering me, or worrying me, it matters to Him. So when I ask for His help and intercession, if its His will, He will work it out for my good. I think that we don't live like He's taking care of us more times than not.
I just wanted to testify today that God answers prayer and He loves me... He loves you too.

Wow -Time Fly's when your having fun

I can't believe it was Saturday the last time I posted- I was excited about my new look and I just never got back. I was enjoying life. I went to see Martina McBride Sunday night- for a little thing she can bust out a song. I went with Ashley, my oldest daughter and Donny, my son-in love. First we went to Ketchup, a new restaraunt here in our hometown -it is so cool. It's owners are Ashton Kutcher and Wilmer Valderrama, to name a few. The only other Ketchup is in Hollywood. My son Chase is one of the managers here. The food is like an 80's diner but gourmet. I got Shake and Bake chicken - which was pistachio encrusted baked Chicken breast strips that were awesome. Donny got a Sloppy Joe-slopp sloppy joe:o) He said it was awesome. The deserts were huge and delicious. The ice cream sandwich is two big old 8 inch warm chocolate chip cookies with ice cream inside and chocolate drizzled all over. They also serve deep fried Twinkies YUMO . If you find yourself in Huntsville AL go to Bridge Street -our new outdoor Shopping arena. Go to Ketchup and tell Chase Meme sent ya.
Monday, found me working and then at a meeting to make plans for our Relay -for -Life event-the first weekend of May. I am committed to walking and being there all night long-did you hear what I just said -all night long. What was I thinking-this old lady can't hang with the big dogs like I used too. Oh well, start praying now or else I'll post the pictures of the lady laying on the bleachers (Me) after its all over with. Our Ladies mission group at church, named M&M's for Mary and Martha's, and Missions and Ministry is having a booth. All of the money is for such a great cause of course, the American Cancer Society , so I'm jazzed to be helping, I just pray I last all night. Last of all, last night, I went to spend-the-night with my grandbaby girls , their Daddy is out of town and they wanted MeMe to spend the night, so off I went with my toothbrush and PJ's and no computer. Like I said I was enjoying life.Isn't that what its all about?

My New Blog Face

I am so thankful for my new look on my blog- I must thank Shauna at
http://www.seemydesignsbyshauna.com She is so awesome. One day you are reading other people's blog saying I wish mine was more me and the next you open it and VOILA!

I guess this is one more post for 1000 gifts, because the day I stumbled on her little square and went and investigated Shauna and her blog as well as the design blog she's been a gift.

You really need to check her out, she is just precious. She is a beautiful lady outside and in. She is so cute!! And her husband isn't bad on the eyeballs either. She is a mother who is staying home with her children and using her talent to help others. That is a true gift.

She is very talented and timely. She can listen to you and the next thing you know you open your blog to blog and there before your eyes is your new and improved look that is yours alone.
Look no more for a friend to help you out, she's right there and she can bless you like she has blessed me.She really is so affordable when you look at some of the other design places and she creates like a Genius.
Click here and start your own great experience at a new look.

It's kind of the feeling I was talking about in my last post, about going to the hairdresser and leaving saying I look good, I feel good, and even I am a wonderful reflection of My Heavenly Father. Shouldn't we work at being His reflection in a world with so much that is not.
So , tell me how you like it-more importantly Tell Shauna-she is the one who blessed me with this new look. Read her blog also, you'll fall in love with her like I have-Blah Blah Blog www.shaunacallaghan.blogspot.com.
You can never have to many friends, especially not creative, beautiful ones who rub off on you:O)

One Friday at One of our Favorite Places

My precious little Emma wanted to go to the Hair salon with MeMe and get her 2nd haircut- MeMe was getting the monthly overhaul- losing the head full of gray-and I do mean full of gray.

She had beautiful long curls and Mommy and Daddy said she could cut her hair if that was what she wanted and boy did she want it.
She loved the shampoo like a big girl.
It really feels so good to lay back and have your head massaged and shampooed.Did I forget to mention that I have great hair and its all because my best friend is my hair dresser. She keeps me gorgeous- in the hair department anyway- and I always try to send her new customers. My best friend's name is Barbara -I call her Barbie. She gave my son his first haircut about 24 years ago and we have been through a lot over the years. Her grandson Thomas is Emma's boyfriend. They are getting married when they grow up. They have dates every Thursday night. See how cute they are!So when Barbie gets my color on (sorry no pictures of that -you don't need the scare) she sets to work cutting my little punkins hair. Emma calls Barbie MeMaw Barbara and she loves to go to the shop with me. Barbie usually paints her nails and toenails. Look how happy they both look-Emma to be getting her hair cut and Barbie because she loves her job and her future granddaughter -in- love.

Barbie's shop is such a cool place everybody loves it-when you walk in the door it smells like home. She has an Aveda salon. She sells lots of cool stuff there like candles, jewelry, purses, even Scripture china called Feed On the Word.

It's truly a happy place filled with 5 awesome hair stylists (one of them is Laura, her daughter, Thomas' Mommy )some people call magicians -because you come in feeling blah and you leave singing I'm too sexy for my stuff ..... Scuse me I'm digressing.

Look at my little baby doll she is so happy -she loves this new cut. She actually wanted it shorter but this is enough for right now. She looks the way I do when Barbie gets through with me-happy as can be.
If you ask me this haircut makes her look a little older and MeMe is not ready for that just yet. I want her to stay young and love spending the night with me and need me for lots of things.

I'll just have to keep loving her and spending quality time with her EVERDAY like I do now and we'll always be close.
I know every crow thinks theirs is the blackest, but isn't she a little beauty?

I Believe

I found this post on my 22 year old daughter's Facebook and as I read it, I thought many of these things are things you hope your children learn. Take a look and I will post some of my own shortly....

I BELIEVE:A birth certificate shows that we were born; a death certificate shows that we died; pictures show that we lived! Have a seat . Relax. And read this slowly.

I believe - That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe - That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I believe - That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I believe - That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I believe - That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I believe - That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I believe - That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I believe - That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I believe - That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I believe - That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I believe - That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I believe - That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe - That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe - That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe - That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe - That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe - That no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I believe - That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe - Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I believe - That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I believe - That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I believe - That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I believe - That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

I believe - That the happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

I believe - "The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you."

Today started early and lasted long

Today we went to Montgomery to visit the Legislature. It was quite exciting. It began by leaving my house at 6:15 am to meet at my work and drive by van with 8 seniors and a coworker to make sure our Senate and House remember Seniors. It was a lovely drive with nice conversations. I believe that us baby-boomers can learn alot from our elders if we listen. We got there 3 hours later and we went to the State House. Going in I kept setting off the medal detector so I had to step to the side and they used the wand on me and I said loudly its probably the underwire on my bra ( you can't take me anywhere)- it was actually my bracelets and jewelry, evidently real sterling silver will set it off. We went to the House of Representatives Gallery and that was cool, then we went to a conference room and both of our senators for North Alabama and all our Representatives came to talk to us- one of them was my 7th grade teacher. They are really in the middle of some bills that are controversial. They assured the seniors that they are looking out for their interests. We made them goody bags with chocolate and Starbucks coffee and Godiva frappacino drinks. We had lunch in the cafeteria and went to the Department of Senior Services office to see an award we (Alabama) have won that is called the Rosalyn Carter Award for working with Caregivers of the elderly. It was quite beautiful. We delivered all our gifts and started back home. WE stopped at the Peach Park in Clanton and had some homemade peach ice cream. YUMO

It was an interesting day and I believe everyone should visit their government sometime in their life. It puts a face to the people they serve.

I'm tired......hobnobbing with the big dogs sure is tiring:o)

Happy 100th blog to you Valarie Lea

For she's a jolly good blogger, for she's a jolly good blogger, for she's a jolly good blogger -which nobody can deny. I am proud that my beautiful Friend has reached a milestone in blog world.

I am thankful that she hooked me with her humor and her life experiences.

This just might be another post to go in my continuing 1000 gifts posts-

Because Valerie is one of my precious gifts from my Heavenly Father.

She is a faithful sweet member of my Sunday School class. She does kind unexpected things, like Extreme Makeover of our SS room along with one of my other precious peeps Melinda. She opened her home countless times to not only our class but our husbands class too and she was the hostess with the mostest. We have studied Gods word together , we have lived through a weekend with a passel of 8th grade lil' darlings and most recently she has lovingly introduced me to a whole new world of friends and an outlet that I'm loving-YOU- the world of bloggers. Did I tell you she patiently sat and helped me work out some of my questions about Blogville!( 2 hours on a Sunday evening to be exact)

I still remember the first time she came to my house-she was having a come-apart (over paint colors for her Home Makeover) and our mutual friend Melinda said go to Lories with me -she will feed you and make you feel better-I hope I did - Have I mentioned that I love her . Oh and she has since gotten so much better at paint choosing and decorating dilemmas thanks to her friends out there on the blog....

She is a wonderful mother- a fashion statement at all times and a precious sweet Christian sister and friend.

Thank you God for Valerie Lea from Tennessee now in Alabama. Here's you a lil' gift for you from me!

May we have many more wonderful times and meet lots of new friends and I can't wait for our road trip to meet some of our friends out there on the blog!

I don't know but I've been told -someone out there has her 100th blog.

She's a creative gal with camera and words, she even takes pictures of big old birds.

Sound off 1-2 sound off 3-4 Bring it on down ya'll , Happy 100th blog to you!

Yes- God is Good

Thank You God for more than I deserve!
