Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name-

Remember the old cheers song- Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away? Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same You wanna be where everybody knows Your name. I thought about the words to that song and for me that place is my Sunday School class. I guess this post will be a plug for finding a Sunday school class, because it is a place to really connect and find the folks who will be beside you through good and bad, especially bad.
Two things happen in the church setting of Sunday school class, my class knows me and I know them. The things that matter the most and our needs, good and bad. The things that happen in our lives, good and bad. Also, I study God's word with them and we have the assurance that God knows our name. Exodus 33:17 says "So the Lord says to Moses, I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by name." The Lord has instructed Moses to take his people to the land of milk and honey and Moses asks if The Lord's presence will be with them where He is sending him. We don't have to ask if the Lord's presence is with us and we can know we have his grace and He knows us by name.
It's a win -win situation. Surrounded by people who love us, know about us and care deeply, in the Presence of a Savior who feels the same.
When you think of the Cheers song and the words, isn't it sad when people look for that connection in a bar? Isn't it sad they have the need to feel loved and like they matter and they often go to a bar and avoid their families, hide from their problems, and also drown their sorrows like they aren't there. I'm not saying all people who go to a bar are sad, just people who make that their second home and are seeking for something that's missing.
How wonderful it would be if they looked at a local church, found that group where they fit in and then the verses in Ecclesiastes come to life: "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together , they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a cord of three strands is not easily broken."
Go to Sunday school Sunday and see if you don't find a place where you are accepted and welcomed, a place that you are missed when you aren't there, a place where everybody knows your name and their always glad you came.
Just a thought I had this Friday morning as I prayed for my Sista's!
Be blessed!
