How about some Random Thoughts today…

Sunday, as I told you before is my favorite day of the week. It’s the day I see my church family and get a big old helping of spiritual food~the kind that’s good for you!Yesterday was no exception. I spent the day with Juju- and even took a nap on my old couch-déjà vu- just like many other Sundays, I had to laugh. To make sense of that, you’d have to know I got a new couch for my anniversary a few weeks ago and Juju got my old couch.

I love Sunday night TV. I just cry every Sunday night when I watch Extreme Home Makeover, where some deserving person gets a new house in just a few days. I also love the show Brothers and Sisters, it shows relationships in families like they truly are. Well, except for the gay married couple! The Mom loves all her kids, the brothers and sisters love and fight but are always there for each other. It’s a good show.

But the show that really grabbed me this week is the Chef Jeff Project on Food Network. He came from a prison background and has formed a life in food. He has cookbooks, and now a catering business and he is taking street kids and giving them a chance to become something. It was so moving to see him lift them up and go the extra mile to make a difference to them.

That’s one of my new favorite sayings – MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We get chances often, if we are looking, to make a difference to someone. We should look for chances. Also, remember to thank someone when they make a difference in your life.

Every day you have opportunities- take them. Give to others- listen to others. Have empathy for those who need help or have made wrong choices.  Treat others the way you want to be treated. Oh, here’s a good one~ forgive people even when they don’t ask for it. People need the love the most when they deserve it the least. We all find ourselves in that boat sometime in our life- a harsh word is spoken we can’t take back or we do something carelessly that hurts someone else. I know I have made lots of mistakes. It is so much sweeter when someone says “you’re forgiven”.

I went to sleep thinking how awesome the show Chef Jeff’s Project was and it was great to see a reality show that shows someone making a difference.

Watch it and tell me what You think!

Happy Monday everybody!

Be blessed!

A day out of my Me Journal

The weather today is: Beautiful –a fine fall day- the days you wish could stay around for ever. Not too hot, a little cold and crisp in the evening.

In the news today: The economy and Politics. Mostly the economy.

News and events with my family and friends: Yesterday my son’s girlfriend Ashley, Ryder’s mother, lost her Dad. It was sudden and unexpected. He was younger than me I believe. He died of a heart attack. Please pray for their family. Ashley and Ryder were in a bad car accident when they were leaving the hospital. I am so thankful they are okay.

I am excited about: Today we are having professional pictures made of my grandchildren. I can’t wait to show them off. It’s exciting to get new pictures of my beauties! It’s a beautiful day for it.

I am concerned about: The economy and so many people who are affected that I know. The price of gas is going down thankfully. Everyone is feeling the crunch of our economy in some way-restaurants are hurting because people don’t go out as much- I have two kids in the restaurant business.

Physically and mentally I feel: Physically, I  need to lose weight. I am frustrated with myself for gaining what I lost last year and need to get a life change in this area. Mentally- I feel good because I know who holds my tomorrows and I am His. My heart and well being mentally are good because they rest In God.

What I learned today: That having a day off and sleeping late can sure cure what ails you, especially at the end of two very busy weeks or is that 3 busy weeks?

People/ things that brighten my day: OF COURSE- my grandchildren- spending time with friends – good music- spending time in the Word or talking to God to name a few.

What I did to brighten someone’s day: I need to work on this one today. You always feel better when you do something for others. That’s my philosophy.

Good ideas for a better tomorrow: Encourage people I know to see the movie “Fireproof” for their marriage.

Encourage people to find a church home for a family to walk along beside them while they are here on earth.

When you are weak in an area –such as I am at discipline when it comes to exercise and eating right –find someone to walk beside you and help you-someone to be accountable too. I need that!

Encourage people to love their families and friends with all they have for we are not promised tomorrow.

Enjoy this beautiful weekend-This is the day the Lord has made-I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Be blessed!

There’s nothing sweeter than the look, smell and feel of a baby (Grand) sleeping!

Now I hope I can sleep-I’m alone in a hotel for the first time in my life. I am in the great city of Florence, AL for the Master’s games. Tomorrow I get the joy of helping with Rook Tournaments, Billiards and Bowling to name a few. I love Seniors and seeing them enjoy competition is pretty fun. Thank goodness for wireless Internet in hotel rooms.

I sure wish my little boos were here with me.

Now I lay me down to sleep

I hope I don’t begin to weep

I’ve never stayed somewhere like this

Without someone to share my Bliss.

I’ll try to darken up the room

And hope that sleep will start to bloom.

So here’s my little simple prayer~

I won’t begin to pull my hair,

Or scream or cry or throw some things

Just go to sleep and have sweet dreams!

Is it just Me or do you know an Intimidator?

Oh, remember Dale Earnhardt, he was called the Intimidator and it wasn't a negative thing. But I wonder if that's really a good thing in real life?I looked up how to handle irritating people on the internet and you could spend days reading and even purchase systems to help you learn how to cope with them. Don't we all have them in our lives. Do you know if you are one?
My Mom used to say I tried to live life with rose-colored glasses on~is that such a bad thing?
I don't want to be an irritating person or intimidate others to have my way, because then I would never enjoy it. I would rather catch my bees with honey than vinegar. Sometimes I just get weary trying to deal with people. I get extremely mad when I find myself getting sucked in to being negative or going with the flow and being part of the problem not the solution. Tell me people, do you go through this? Are there difficult people in your life. Are they making life miserable for you. Let's name a few possibilities...Co-workers? Bosses? Clients?In-Laws? Spouse? Kids?Parents?Siblings? I even found this list of names to apply to them on the Internet... This is someone elses list.
Let me give you a brief description of these type of people. If you don't know how to handle them... they can really hold you back.
1. The Energy Thief.
2. The Self-Righteous @#&-hole.
3. The Criticizer.
4. The Staller- Mr. "Indecisive".
5. The Sherman Tank- He'll run you over.
6. The Know-It-All.
7. The "Think" They Know-It-All.
8. The Negative Whiner.
9. The Clam-Up Say-Nothing Type.
10. The "Too Agreeable" Type.
11. The Back-Stabbing Sniper.
12. The Instigator.
13. The Entrapper.
14. The Pulled-Pin Hand Grenade.
15. The Bullies.
16. The Bosses From Hell.
17. The Stubborn Do-Nothings.
18. The Fault-Finding Worthless Critic.
19. The Rude Screamers.
20. The Excuse Machine.
21. The Blabber Mouth.
Okay, I'm starting to feel better-there are names for these people and I don't want to find mine among it. Just venting is helping -knowing that others experience it helps. I want to choose to try my best to rise above it, so heres 22 ways to not find myself on that list...
Doing the right thing for the right reason.
Giving the gift of courtesy.
Rejoicing, not being resentful.
Showing true humility.
Encouraging others.
Keeping a long fuse.
Holding no grudges.
Drawn to the truth.
Always optimistic.
Willing to persevere.
Never letting others down.
You can’t live better than you can love.
Speak to people—There is nothing so nice as a cheerful word of greeting and/or encouragement.
Smile at people—It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile.
Call people by name —The sweetest music to anyone’s ears is the sound of their own name.
Be friendly and helpful—If you would have a friend, be a friend.
Be cordial—Speak and act as if everything you do is a genuine pleasure.
Be genuinely interested in people—You can like most everybody if you try.
Be generous with praise—Cautious with criticism.
Be considerate with the feelings of others—There are usually three sides to a controversy; Yours, the other fellows and the right side.
Give of yourself—What counts most in life is what we do for others.
Keep a good sense of humor, a big dose of patience and a dash of humility—you will be rewarded many-fold.
If you stayed with me to the end of this post, you are a trooper. I feel better! I feel like I had a therapy session with a low cost.

As my Pastor says I want to live gratefully humbly not hateful grumbly!

Be blessed!

Ryder Boy is Growing

One of the things Emma asked for for her birthday was for her favorite cousin Ryder to be there. I was missing him myself because I hadn’t got him in a few weeks. I miss him so much sometimes.

047

Isn’t he growing? He weighs 27 pounds now and he’s just 9 and a half months old. His little  Momma probably weighs 100 soaking wet.Lord, bless her cos my muscles hurt from carrying him. Of course her sweet little muscles are 27  years younger than mine and in much better shape. I don’t want to talk about shape –I don’t have one. Now, I have digressed, this post is about my little cutie-pie!

090

How’s that for a Face!

098

He loves to watch TV-Baby Einstein~ MeMe wants him to be cultured –what’s a day without Mozart?

His Daddy is a hard working Restaurant manager of Ketchup –but he used to dream of being a chef.

Lil’ Bubby ( I call Chase Bubby-I always have)crawled right into the kitchen and being the smart boy that he is pulled this book from the shelf…101

Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child-see the boy already has culture. He might just grow up and be a chef!!!

Thanks for letting me share!

BE Blessed!
